MIPS Inc. was
created to provide Nebraska counties with enhanced computer software,
hardware, support and consultation services. MIPS Inc. offers to counties a full range of IBM AS400 and PC-based software
packages, primarily for the offices of the assessor,
clerk, and treasurer. Included within its product line, MIPS Inc. offers programs for accounting and payroll, property assessment,
valuation, taxation, and on-line receipting. With the partnership, counties also have access to an enhanced
computer assisted mass appraisal (CAMA) and GIS.
The Nebraska Association of County Officials began offering automation
services in 1991 when it purchased DataMasters of Kearney. Renamed Multi-County
Information and Programming Services, or MIPS, this technology division
of NACO supports counties using the IBM AS400 and Windows platforms.
